2013 Culture Days Schedule

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

9 to 9:15 am – Welcome and introductions (facilitated by the Wyandotte Nation Culture Committee).
9:15 to 10:30 am
 – History – Our Great Chiefs from 1649-1843 (facilitated by Lloyd Divine).
10:30 to 10:45 – Break.
10:45 to Noon – Language (facilitated by Dr. Craig Kopris).

Noon to 1:00 pm – Lunch On Your Own.

1 pm to 2:00 – Know Your Nation (facilitated by Chief Billy Friend and Second Chief Norman Hildebrand).
2 to 4:00 pm
 – Special Interests. Your choice of; Pine Needle Basket Weaving, Advanced Language or Flintknapping.
4 to 4:15 pm – Break.
4:15 to 5:30 pm -  Wyandotte (Clan Based) Government. (facilitated by Marilyn Young)
5:30 to 6:00 pm – Break and travel time to Title VI Building.
6 to 8:00 pm – Annual fried chicken dinner.
8:00 pm – Wampum Belt of Friendship. (facilitated by Debbie Dry)

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

9 to 9:15 am – Welcome and introductions (facilitated by the Wyandotte Nation Culture Committee).
9:15 to 10:30 am
 – History – Our Great Chiefs from 1844-Present (facilitated by David Culver and Deryl Wright).
10:30 to 10:45 – Break.
10:45 to Noon – Language (facilitated by Dr. Craig Kopris).

Noon to 1:00 pm – Lunch On Your Own.

1 pm to 2:00 – Know Your Nation (facilitated by Tribal Department Directors).
2 to 4:00 pm
 – Special Interests. Your choice of; Pine Needle Basket Weaving, Advanced Language or Flintknapping.
4 to 4:15 pm – Break.
4:15 to 5:30 pm -  Wyandotte (Election Based) Government. (facilitated by Lloyd Divine)
5:30 to 6:00 pm – Break and travel time to Title VI Building.
6 to 8:00 pm – Traditional Dinner.
8:00 pm – Wampum Belt of Friendship. (facilitated by Debbie Dry)

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

9 to 9:15 am – Welcome and introductions (facilitated by the Wyandotte Nation Culture Committee).
9:15 to 10:30 am
 – Language (facilitated by Dr. Craig Kopris).
10:30 to 10:45 – Break.
10:45 to Noon – Q&A (facilitated by the Wyandotte Nation Culture Committee).

Noon to 1:00 pm – Lunch on your own.

1 to 5:00 pm – Participants will be given a choice to work on their special interest projects or take a tour of the grave sites of our chiefs in the local Wyandotte area.
5 to 8:00 pm – Dinner on your own. Invite someone you may have met for the first time at Culture Days to dinner. This would be a wonderful time to forge a lasting friendship that will be cherished for the rest of your lives.

8:00 pm – Wampum Belt of Friendship or attend the Wyandotte Nation Pow Wow.

NOTES:
1. ALL sessions will be held in the Bearskin Wellness Center Gymnasium.
2. Special interest session are subject to change. Attendees will be allowed to register for one special interest area only.
3. Evening meals will be held at the Title VI – Artie Nesvold Building.
