The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma is hosting an event in celebration of our Native American Heritage known as CIRCLE OF PEACE WEEKEND. Dates of the event are May 31, June 1 & 2 to be held on tribal grounds on Business 60 immediately north of Indigo Sky.
Planned activities include hands on learning in Bow and Arrow Making, Flint Napping, Basket Making, Moccasin Making, Language Skills, Cooking, Beading. There will also be lessons on horsemanship and campfire cooking and outdoor fun for all. This is a total family event which will be enjoyed by all—grandmas and grandpas to moms and dads to youth. Joe and Cynthia Wilkerson of Red Willow Ministries will bring their horses as well as friends who are professionals in counseling, ministering, sharing positive messages, uplifting youth.
Current plans call for a Friday, May 31 opening of activities at 1 pm with a Ceremonial Opening, afternoon activities, evening meal, after supper games (hopefully stick-ball) and Pow Wow and/or Stomp Dancing.
Saturday, June 1 includes trail rides in the morning, afternoon activities, evening meal, after supper games (again hopefully stick-ball) and Pow Wow and/or Stomp Dancing. And if anyone is up for Indian football, we just might work that in too.
Sunday, June 2 has AM activities of trail rides, 11 am Worship service, Awards Ceremony (from Fri & Sat events), Closing Ceremonies.
We are particularly focusing upon the Seneca Cayuga Tribe and the Wyandotte Tribe joining us, the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. Others are welcome, encouraged to come but we particularly want our special friends who have participated in Red Willow Ministries with us to attend. Hopefully everyone will mark your calendars, gather your friends and family and plan to spend quality time at our second annual CIRCLE OF PEACE WEEKEND.
The Weekend is for YOU!
