Description of Assignment

Wyandotte Nation Government is currently accepting applications for a part-time Wyandotte Nation Court Bailiff.  Successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining order and providing security during court proceedings. Along with guarding juries and enforcing rules of the courts, bailiffs open court by announcing the judges’ arrival and close court by announcing the judges’ departure. They may call witnesses to the stand and present the oath before witnesses take the stand. Court bailiffs may also provide administrative support to judges and jurors, stock courtroom supplies, deliver court documents and take custody of offenders.  Must have high school diploma/GED certificate, plus qualified experience in law enforcement.  Must be BIA or C.L.E.E.T. certified or eligible for reciprocity and qualify for BIA Cross-Commission.  Must pass a background check, physical, drug testing and maintain a valid driver’s license.  Required to climb, crouch, work in areas that are close and crowded, perform keyboarding, lift up to and over 100 pounds, push/pull 11 to over 100 pounds.
